Metabolic health

Control your weight and get fitter and healthier

An individual’s metabolic health is controlled by several organs, hormones and enzymes in the body that work collectively to maintain homeostasis. Unfortunately this system is susceptible to disease which disrupts the equilibrium of the metabolic system.

The resting metabolic rate, (RMR) is linked to physical activity and is defined as the energy consumed by the active cell mass to sustain natural body functions at rest.

Physical activity & metabolic health.

You may not have much control over the speed of your metabolism, but you do have control how many calories you burn through your level of physical activity.  So the more active you are, the more calories you burn.

Regular aerobic exercise:

Aerobic exercise is the most efficient way to burn calories. At AM activ we can structure training sessions to optimise your aerobic fitness.

Strength training:

Strength training exercises such as weight training and strength and conditioning are important because they help reduce muscle loss associated with aging. AM activ have worked with athletes and individuals in the area of strength training for many years. With our knowledge and experience in strength training, we will help you burn more calories & promote weight loss. Your strength training program will include a variety of exercises that are simple but effective & suitable for all abilities.

Lifestyle & behaviour changes:

At AM activ we can help you make simple changes in your lifestyle to help you burn more calories. We will explore ways together to change behaviours and patterns in your daily routines to help you become more fit and active. Simple activities such as gardening and housework burn calories and contribute to weight loss.
